Heat, dust and
the fire marshal
Phoenix averages 111 days a year at 100 degrees or hotter, and July highs average about 106. Powered speakers and mixers can overheat and shut down in direct sun. For summer dates we plan shade, airflow and an indoor backup, and we point lawn events toward the cooler months.
Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30, and its dust storms can roll across the Valley fast. At the Phoenix Convention Center, flame effects need a fire department permit with two weeks notice, and haze needs approval. City code also targets loud music, especially from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Yes. During planning we send our insurance certificate to your venue and confirm load-in, power and dock access. Any effects approvals are requested well ahead. Every event also gets spare speakers, microphones and a second mixer, so one failed part does not stop the night.
Can you play an outdoor Phoenix event in summer?
We can, and we will be honest about it. Phoenix averages 111 days a year at 100 degrees or more, and gear in direct sun can overheat. From June to September we suggest an indoor room, a late start or a shaded setup with airflow. Monsoon season also runs June 15 to September 30, so we plan a way inside. Lawn and patio events are easier on guests and gear from about November to March.
Can we use cold sparks or haze at a Phoenix venue?
Often, but only with approval first. The Phoenix Fire Department issues permits for indoor pyrotechnic shows. The Phoenix Convention Center asks for a fire department permit for flame effects at least two weeks ahead, and it needs prior approval and a fire watch for fog or haze. Rules differ by venue, so we check with your venue and fire officials before we promise any effect.
What should we know about a DJ at ASU's Memorial Union?
Plan the sound early. The Memorial Union on the Tempe campus says its built-in audio is for speech, presentations and background music. A DJ needs audio gear from another ASU department or an outside provider, and meeting-room sound should stay around 70 decibels or below. Groups not sponsored by ASU must also carry liability insurance naming the university. We bring our own system and set levels to the building's rules.
How late can the music play in Phoenix?
Start with your venue. Phoenix city code bans unreasonably loud noise and calls out loud music especially from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., when it disturbs people nearby. Your venue may set an earlier end time or a volume limit of its own. We confirm both during planning and keep the last hour at a level the room allows.
How far ahead should we book, and what does it cost?
Book as early as you can, especially for October through April, when mild weather fills the Phoenix event calendar. Pricing is quoted per event, because the services, hours and venue all change the total. Send your date and venue, and we reply with availability and a straightforward quote within 24 hours.
