What happens if a storm hits during an outdoor event?
Afternoon thunderstorms are common in Fort Collins in July and August, and Northern Colorado gets hail too. Before the day, we agree with your venue on a covered spot for the gear and an indoor room to move into. If lightning or hail shows up, we pause, protect the equipment and restart where it is safe. Your planner makes the final call with us.
Can we use cold sparks at a Larimer County venue?
Maybe. Wildfire is a real concern here. The 2020 Cameron Peak Fire burned west of Fort Collins and is the largest in Colorado history. Larimer County also set fire restrictions for unincorporated areas from May 6 to Sept. 8, 2026. We check the current rules and ask your venue before we bring cold sparks. If the answer is no, we lean on lighting for the big moments.
How loud can a backyard party get in Fort Collins?
City code limits sound in residential areas to 55 dB(A) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and 50 dB(A) from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Commercial zones allow a little more. The city has been reviewing its noise rules, so check the current version for your address. We aim speakers away from neighbors, keep the level where you need it and can move the dance floor indoors after 8 p.m.
Can you work at CSU or Canvas Stadium event spaces?
Yes, we can plan around them. The Lory Student Center rents its Grand Ballroom and other rooms to outside groups. Canvas Stadium's rental spaces, like the Stadium Club, come with built-in audio visual. We ask event staff what we can plug into, what we should bring and when we can load in. We also send our liability insurance certificate to the venue.
How much does a DJ in Fort Collins cost?
Every event is quoted on its own, because a CSU banquet, a brewery birthday and a Stanley Hotel gala need different gear and hours. Lighting, a photo booth or cold sparks add to the quote.
